Rim Around
Sometimes a cowboy will decide to just “rim around”; he goes rimming.” He rides the high ridges and rims high on the mountains and rides the rims of the mesas where he can watch lower country for cattle, or track, or anything he might *e for his work or his enjoyment. He usually suspects before he starts rimming that the ride won’t have much import on the work he is doing but rimming is necessary because it gives him time to decide his strategy on cattle, puts miles on a horse that may need them, or shows him country he hasn’t seen since last year or may never have seen before. He and the country represent themselves to each other.
